We have a new feature here at Roger Wilco Sicklerville and it’s bottles of wine encased in chocolate.  Yes, you did read that right.  Full wine bottles covered in chocolate and decorated as well complete with a small card for presentation.

You can choose which bottle/s of wine you would like covered in either dark chocolate or white chocolate.  The chocolates are high quality, very creamy and rich on the palate, and nothing like store bought candy bars.  This is gourmet stuff.

Please call, e-mail or stop in the store to inquire about pricing and turn-around time to get the wine/s of your choice covered in chocolate and festively decorated.  These make great gifts, whether for a graduation, anniversary, birthday, Mother’s Day or any other special occasion.

This would especially go well with any fruit infused wines (like Ceci Bella), fruit flavoured wines (like Heritage, Valenzano and Tomasello) and sparkling wines and Champagnes.  You may select any style of wine you like, however, it’s your call.  To enjoy, just pull the ribbon and let the chocolate crumble, open the wine and eat, drink and be merry!

Come on out tonight (with this weather, like you need an excuse?) and get to sample some Naked Grape wines.  They’re called Naked Grape because they aren’t oaked like most wines, thus allowing the true nature of the grape (including the vibrant fruit essences)  to shine through on your palate.  All flavours of Naked Grape will be on sale during the tasting for only $6.98/bottle.  We’re pouring Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio and Moscato till 8pm tonight.

Sequoia Grove Cambium Napa Valley Red Blend is now in stock!

This wine is a blend of select Bordeaux varietal grapes that are hand harvested from vineyards that are shaded by giant Sequoia trees.  

Dark red-black in color with an intense nose of sweet tobacco and coffee mixed with dark chocolate, cassis, and boysenberries. Background aromas of vanilla and cigar box interplay with a hint of anise. The palate is full, rich, and structured, but the tannins are so supple that the wine comes across with a lightness on the palate that surprises, especially when it leads into a long, long finish filled with coffee and chocolate, which is just as intense at the end as when the wine began.

Our owner Dan visited the winery in Autumn and got to experience this quality wine.  There are no ratings for it as Sequoia Grove doesn’t submit their wines to be rated, they just like to make good wine.  When Dan had the chance to bring this wine in at an incredible price to our customers he didn’t hesitate to do so.

Buy two and drink one now and cellar the other bottle for a couple years as this wine will age well.

We have new wines from 2 NJ winemakers:  Chestnut Run Farm and Ceci Bella.

Chestnut Run Farm is closer to our area, based in Pilesgrove in Salem County.  The refer to themselves as the Asian Pear wine specialists.  We currently carry 3 of their wines:  Semi-Sweet Fuji Apple, Semi-Sweet Asian Pear and Spiced Sweet Asian Pear.

Semi-Sweet Fuji Apple wine is made from Fuji apples grown on the Chestnut Run Farm and has won 3 Silver Medals in wine competitions.  You can enjoy it chilled as a sipping wine or pair it with turkey, salmon or pork dishes.

Semi-Sweet Asian Pear wine is an off-dry, subtly sweet and fruity wine meant to be enjoyed chilled by itself or to pair with grilled pork or poultry and tilapia or other flaky fish dishes.  It has won one Silver Medal in wine competitions.

Spiced Sweet Asian Pear wine is spiced with ginger and pairs well with spicy Asian and Indian cuisine like sushi, Thai or Szechuan.  Also, because it has ginger in it you can enjoy it as an after dinner wine.  It was won 1 Gold Medal and 1 Bronze Medal in wine competitions.

Ceci Bella wines are brand new to the market and are based in Hamburg, Sussex County.  Thus far they have sold over 10,000 cases just through the winery tasting room alone without any marketing.  Unlike some fruit flavoured wines that use the fruit to ferment the wine, Ceci Bella uses the actual grape varietal first and then infuses their wines with the juice of the fruits.  We are currently carrying  3 of their wines:  Acai-Raspberry Cabernet Sauvignon, Pomegranate Wild Berry Zinfandel and Strawberry Riesling.

The Strawberry Riesling tastes like you’re biting into a strawberry, but still retains the characteristics of a Riesling, being crisp and acidic.  The Acai-Raspberry Cabernet has soft fruity berry flavours that both mellow and round out the Cabernet base, yet still allow the body and richness to come through.  The Pomegranate Wild Berry Zin is a lush fruity wine, but not overly sweet and maintains the integrity of a ripe bold Zin underneath the juicy fruit flavours.

All 3 are wines you can sip and savour by themselves or pair them with BBQ and desserts.
